Online Question Writing/Item Authoring

Webassessor's(TM) question writing/item authoring tools are designed to be as easy to use a your word processor and as sophisticated as your test requires. You can easily write questions/author items, create item banks, determine test form characteristics, and choose the exact proctor/delivery method you need for your testing needs. Having an integrated item banking tool makes data flow less prone to error and enhances the overall security of your test content.

Manage Complex Item Banks
Use Webassessor's(TM) flexible structure to copy and move Items, Item Folders, and Item Banks within the Item Bank structure, and search for keywords and review permission levels. With Webassessor(TM) you can:

  • Author Items using an easy-to-use word processor type interface
  • Identify source of item content
  • Format item text characteristics (Bold, Italic Underline, Search, Font, Size, Color, Spell Check, Tables, Lists, Insert Graphics, and Video Clips, etc.)
  • Select Item Type (Multiple choice, Multiple selection, True/False, Matching, Fill in the Blank and Short Answer/Essay – each with a variable response number or adjustable response length)
  • Preview your items to confirm proper scoring and view how they appear in the tests
  • Assign custom Item ID or let the system assign one for you
  • Identify the item objective
  • Customize Item Properties to store additional information with your items. Use these fields for tracking item-specific information, such as:
       - Expiration dates
       - Item difficulty
       - Reference materials
       - Assigning point value for the items
       - Item response randomization
       - Item response randomization
  • Log as much detail on the Item as you want in the Useful Item Notes field
  • View Test Taker feedback in the Item Comments section with the ability to view Test Taker name, date completed, score, and assessment name

Online Test Form Management

Webassessor(TM) is a secure online testing tool that integrates all the functionality you need to create, deliver, and manage tests in one easy-to-use application. No longer do you need to purchase separate applications and create customized utilities to get them to "talk" to each other. Once you have written your questions and created your item bank you can assemble them into a variety of test forms. Create multiple forms with a full range of randomization options, establish score values and other test form details all from one convenient source. Reuse, edit and refurbish your test content anyway you want.

  • Assemble Test Forms to create assessments, tests, and quizzes with the Test Form management interface. This allows you to add items from any Item Bank to build your assessments.
  • Item Edit
  • Items added to a Test Form link to that Item in the Item Bank. When you make a change to an Item in an Item Bank, Webassessor(TM) automatically changes that item on all Test Forms where that it appears.
  • Customize your Test Form scoring, assign an overall score, a topic score, or simply provide feedback. You can also customize how the results appear to your Test Takers, configuring results to display an overall pass/fail, or a point/percentage score. This configuration is available at both the Test Form and the topic level.
  • Add Item and Test Form Comments by providing the Test Taker the opportunity to add comments on the Item or the Test form. The instructions to the Test Taker allow you to capture important information, which is valuable for Beta testing.
